 China clone if you have KKL with L9637D or some SIXXXX OBD chip in KKL. Reason is to China clones have very bad output stage as imitation of OBD chip with LM339 or some

I have seen the "error changing speeds" error with certain ME7.1.1 builds(newer then 2003).

The error really had nothing to do with changing speeds and was simply the immobilizer not allowing the read while the ECU was on the bench. The solution was to put the ECU in the car and match it to the cluster or read/edit/write the eeprom and bypass the immobilizer.

I have had 3 or 4 situations where I got the changing speed error on stock ECUs in the car it came with (matched to), but I could read/write on the bench in boot mode. 2001, 2002, and a 2003.

Soldering in these components can be a lil bit of a challenge. The legs on the FTDI chip are pretty small. :p

Hey, there is no picture or anything for the HOW TO so if someone could post it that would be great. Also how do you get ecu into boot mode while in the car?

You can't easily. I have an ECU with a switch mounted to the case that i can barely reach while turning the ignition on.

Get a bench flashing setup, or buy a spare ecu.

I have an ECU with a switch mounted to the case that i can barely reach while turning the ignition on.

Did the same... saved my ass a few times... I brought the switch to be behind the fuse box cover... so I just had to pop it off, press the switch while turning on the ign and voila boot mode.
